Executive Director

Martin Lodish is a distinguished educational professional who has led a highly successful career in academia. Since he graduated college in 1990, he has taught and worked at independent schools, building an extensive background in recruiting and supervising faculty and creating successful institutional programs.

Martin began his academic career at The Hill School, a private preparatory school in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. During his 15 years at The Hill School, Martin taught chemistry and physics and was the Chairman of the Science Department. In 2001 he participated in a teacher exchange year as Instructor of Physics at Charterhouse in Surrey, England. He also coached the boys lacrosse team as well as soccer for both the girls and boys teams at The Hill School. In 2005, Martin accepted the position of Academic Dean at Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine. Bridgton Academy is the nation's only preparatory school where the student body is composed entirely of post-graduate students. Martin was responsible for managing the teaching faculty, supervising the instruction of the student body and overseeing the school's scheduling process.   In 2009, Martin became an administrator at Breakwater School, a small progressive PK-8 independent school located in Portland where he worked until 2012.  Martin currently splits his time in the off season between KBIA and Portland Stage where he is the Finance Director.

After graduating from Haverford College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, Martin received his Master's Degree in Education in Chemistry from West Chester University in Pennsylvania.

A long-time Maine vacationer, Martin and his family decided to make it their permanent home in 2005. Martin, his wife Kristin, and their three children, Sophia, Josh, and Tobias, reside in Portland. Martin's interests and hobbies include traveling and hiking -- he's also an avid Red Sox fan.  He currently serves on the Board of Congregation Bet Ha'am.

Susan Roux
Communications Coordinator

Our Communications Coordinator, Susan Roux, steps behind the scenes at KBIA, updating us all on the many fun activities planned and capturing the spirit of summer at the beach.

Susan moved with her family from the greater Boston area to Maine in the Fall of 2012, and since then has enjoyed her time as a stay-at-home mom of her two young children.  She previously worked as a Project Manager for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and a health care outcomes consulting firm in Boston.  Although much of her work experience is in the public health field, Susan has also worked as a communications assistant at the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce.  She immensely enjoyed that line of work, and continued to enjoy writing and public outreach as her career moved into public health field.  KBIA has been the perfect place to expand her communications experience and become even more involved in the Kennebunk community.

Her main passion is spending time with her family down at the beach year round.  Now residing in Kennebunk with her husband Brian, and their children Cailyn and Colby, Susan is looking forward to immersing herself in summers of fun at KBIA.
